Former Finance Minister addresses constituents in Scarborough-Agincourt May 28th 2002
Former Finance Minister Paul Martin told a Toronto area crowd last night that economic indicators show that the Canadian economy will continue to strengthen in the coming year. This forecast is due in large measure to the prudent management of the Canadian government.
The Minister praised Canadian entrepreneurs, including the Scarborough-area business leaders in attendance, for their perseverance in working to maintain our economic stability and future economic growth.He was speaking to more than four hundred constituents at a reception hosted by the Scarborough-Agincourt Federal Liberal Association.
Mr. Martin said, that after the tragedy of September 11th, the world's economy was severely shaken. He and his international counterparts struggled with unprecedented challenges in order to preserve economic stability and development. While due diligence and co-operation between governments have succeeded, in turning around economic prospects, eight months later, serious challenges remain. He continued that international finance ministers remain steadfastly committed to this mission.
Scarborough-Agincourt is the most ethnically diverse federal riding in Canada. The Minister said Jim Karygiannis, Member of Parliament for Scarborough-Agincourt, is proud to serve this rich multi-cultural community. He said that conversations with Mr. Karygiannis often become discussions about the future of Canada with his colleague pointing out that, indeed, his riding represents the future of our country.
According to Mr. Martin, the Member of Parliament for Scarborough-Agincourt is known for his selfless dedication. In order to represent his constituents to the best of his ability, Mr. Karygiannis works tirelessly to learn about their concerns and the issues that affect them and their families.
